The Girl Scout Service Mark
The Girl Scout service mark is composed of two parts, the symbol (the trefoil with three profiles) and the logotype (the words "Girl Scouts", along with the registration mark). Both parts of the service mark MUST be used together.

The service mark may never be redrawn, or modified in any way. The logotype must always be in the same proportion to the symbol. A bitmapped or artist's rendering of the service mark is not permitted. Use of the symbol without the logotype and the use of the service mark as a design element is not permitted.

The Service Mark Configurations
The horizontal service mark is the preferred version for usage, but when space limitations dictate, the use of the more compact version, the stacked service mark is acceptable.

Positive and reverse configurations of the service mark offer flexibility. When the service mark is used on a white or pale background, use the positive mark; when the service mark is used on a dark background, use the reverse version.

Correct Color Usage
For print, the preferred color treatment for the Girl Scout service mark is the new Girl Scout green (Pantone #334c or Pantone green uncoated). The service mark can also be printed in the new blue (Pantone #541c or 294u). When printing a two color piece that does not have Girl Scout green, blue, or black in your palette, print the service mark in the darkest color.

For the Web, green, blue or black is required. Please try to get as close as possible to the Pantone colors listed for print.

Service Mark Placement and Use
A minimum airspace of one-third the width of the symbol must be allowed on all sides. If space is limited, reduce the size of the service mark.

In print, a minimum size for the horizontal Girl Scout mark is 1 1/16" in width which includes the symbol, the logotype, and the registration mark, and 3/4" in width for the stacked version of the service mark.

For the Web, we prefer that you use the service mark as an identity and the size should reflect that.

Use of the Service Mark with Other Logos
When placing the service mark near another logo, be sure to use a version close in size and aspect to that of the other logo. The service marks should be placed side by side and not one above the other.

Incorrect Use of the Service Mark
The service mark may not be used as part of a design or be the subject of a wallpaper pattern. When using the service mark on a Web site, it may not flash, blink, or change colors in any way; it may not be used as an icon or button, and it may not be animated. "Girl Scouts. Where Girls Grow Strong" is the Girl Scout tagline. The wording must never be altered or substituted with another phrase.

The Lockup

When the tagline is used in conjunction with the service mark in a "locked" formation, it is called the "lockup". a registration mark must align at the base of the "s" in Scouts" and an SM symbol must align with the baseline of the "n" in the word "Strong". When using the lockup, always use the artwork provided by Girl Scouts of the USA.

All parts of the lockup (the symbol, the logotype and the tagline) MUST appear in the same color. The preferred color is the new Girl Scout green (Pantone #334c or Pantone green uncoated). Optional colors are the new blue (Pantone #541c or 294u) or black.

The Tagline as a Separate Element
The tagline, Girl Scouts. Where Girls Grow Strong, may be used alone as a separate definitive element (without the service mark). When it is used as a separate element, the first letter of each word must be capitalized and you may use any typeface or color you wish. On the Web site, you may animate the phrase. A period must follow the word "Scouts" and an SM must align at the baseline of the "g" in "Strong".

Use of the Tagline within Text
When using the tagline, Girl Scouts. Where Girls Grow Strong, within text, the first letter of each word must be capitalized, and the entire tagline italicized. There is a period after the word "Scouts" and another period after the word "Strong" if it ends the sentence. No registration mark or SM is necessary.
