GIRLS 11-17

May work on a variety of awards and recognitions designed with additional challenges for this age girl. Additional emphasis is placed on service to others and includes working on service bars or exploring careers. Girls may work on Interest Project patches or charms, as well as the Girl Scout Silver and Girl Scout Gold Awards. The Destinations program offers girls a chance for high adventure in new places!

Tejas Girl Scout Ambassador Program
A program to promote Girl Scouting within our communities - for girls in grades 8-12. Girl Scout Ambassadors are selected and invited to sessions to develop public speaking skills. Trained Ambassadors are available to speak at local Chambers of Commerce, City Councils or other service organizations. Participation in this program helps girls earn leadership and/or service hours and some portions of the Leadership and Public Relations Interest Project patches. Click Here for application form.

By Girls, For Girls Tejas Advisory Committee
7th-12th grade girls join together to talk about, plan & evaluate events/activities and initiate future opportunities. Meetings held at various times throughout the year. Information and details can be found on the By Girls For Girls Home Page.

Community Service Bars
A Cadette Service Bar or a Senior Service Bar can be earned after serving in an apprenticeship or training position with a community service organization. Also, the Community Service Bar for Contributions to Girl Scouting may be earned as a Cadette or Senior but may be earned only once. Click for Procedures/Form. The Girl Scout Gold Award
The highest award a Senior Girl Scout may earn. Earning the Gold Award may help girls earn college scholarships and community awards, receive preferred status when applying for a job and offers the opportunity to be nominated for the Girl Scout Gold Award Young Women of Distinction. The U.S. government also recognizes Gold Awardees.
Earning the Gold Award is an achievement available to any registered Senior Girl Scout if she completes the requirements.

Girl Scouts of Tejas Council Gold Award Scholarship
Established in honor of Betty Richardson, past council president
Girl Scouts of Tejas Council offers graduating Senior girls who have earned the Gold Award the opportunity to apply for scholarship funds for study at an accredited institute of higher learning. The Gold Award scholarship encourages girls to remain in Girl Scouting, creates a positive public relations image for Girl Scouting, is a source of interest to potential donors, and helps girls reach their full potential as women by encouraging further education.
